Arrive at reception and register your details. You will meet the radiation oncologist. Treatment plan will be discussed in detail.
Consents will be taken. Reports need to be submitted (CT, MRI, PETCT, Chemo Details, Surgery Detail, etc). Need to bring CD of scans. Making of a Mold/Mask/Immobilization cushion based on site/treatment area. Marking will be made to help you stay in the same position every day. CT scan of treatment area for planning.
Doctors and physicists carefully design safe and accurate plan. You do not need to stay in hospital for this process.
You will receive a date and time to start your radiation therapy 1 day prior. For treatment you need not to be fasting except specific for few cases.
Daily radiation treatment (Saturday - Sunday off). Come to hospital, tell your name at reception. Team will position you just like during the CT simulation. Treatment time (10-15 mins). Waiting time 1:00 - 1:30 hr. You meet the Dr weekly to review your progress.
Specific instructions will be provided on the 1st day of treatment regarding skincare, diet, and activity.
After all sessions are finished you will meet doctor. You will receive discharge summary with follow-up instructions.
Bring your discharge summary and all your reports for regular follow-up appointments as scheduled.
No, you cannot feel the radiation while taking treatment under machine. There is no burning or pain sensation while radiation goes on.

Yes. The dose is carefully planned and checked for your safety by medical physicists and doctors.
No. Talk to your doctor. Side effects can be managed with medicine. Stopping treatment will increase chance of recurrence.
Some patients feel tired, this usually goes away in 2-3 weeks after radiation treatment completes.
A Radiation Oncologist (doctor) will decide area of radiation, mark the area to be treated, healthy tissue to be spared, the treatment planning. Technologist will deliver the radiation and make you comfortable during treatment. During treatment you need to meet doctor once a week and as and when required.
